   Open

The travel team program consists of training our teams, technically and tactically, and preparing them for scrimmages and league games. The majority of our training and league matches begin in May and go through the end of July. Our Open Women’s team concludes in early to mid August.

Our expectations are that all of our team players from all age groups will participate in The Freeze Training Academy beginning at the end of January.

Current team offerings include U-12, U-14, U-17, U-19 for boys and U-12, U-14, U-17, U19 for girls, and women’s open. Each age group will receive instruction and training twice a week from the FC FREEZE STAFF Coaches, who are all coaching at the collegiate level.Practices are mandatory, and expected for all players that want to be part of our program.

The U-12, U-14, U-17, U-19 age groups will play in the Northern New York Youth Soccer League based out of Watertown, NY. These games are 1 day per week. Each age group will play one day during the week with an occasional weekend game.

If the league doesn’t sponsor an age division, we have the option of playing an independent schedule or a tournament schedule, which may/will result in multiple games on one weekend. The same number of games will be played as our teams that are in the NNYYSL.

The League starts match play in mid to late May and concludes the last weekend in July. Our teams typically play 8-10 games during this season.

Some of our teams will occasionally scrimmage teams from the Plattsburgh area, along with teams from the Lake Placid Soccer Centre during their “Team Camp”

Our open women’s team plays in the North Country Women’s Soccer League. This division was designed to provide college soccer players with quality training without the summer months. This age group plays twice per week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Practices are Monday and Wednesday beginning in mid May until early August.

If Team Selection Days are held, they will be held indoors two Saturdays in late March or the first weekend in April. The dates will be advertised in advance whenever this takes place. Returning players can register on-line.

Some age groups may have additional selection days depending on roster availability. Players can be added to rosters before the league roster deadlines.

Presentation from Parents Meeting (pdf)

Our emphasis is on player development and league play. Practices are extremely important to player development. Playing games without proper training sessions will not allow players to reach their full potential!

Winter Training Academy

FREEZE TRAINING ACADEMY

FC Freeze Logo2017 Registration for the FC FREEZE Soccer Training Academy will be held Sunday January 22, 2017 at the Augsbury Field house at St. Lawrence University from 9:00am-11:00am. The academy program is designed for ages 10-18. Special consideration will be made for players outside of this age group.

The freeze training academy is based on technique and skills building sessions. The purpose of the Academy is based solely on improving each individual’s technical ability.

It is our expectation that all FC Freeze Travel team players, from all age groups, will participate in our academy training sessions.

The first training session will begin at 9:00am, Sunday January 22, 2017.   Bring turf shoes or flat sole sneakers, (running shoes are not recommended) shin pads, water bottle, and a soccer ball, dressed for a soccer skills training session.   We would like you to pre register On-Line or respond to this email (Name, gender, age, t-shirt size (please specify adult sizes or children’s sizes), field player or goal keeper) so the training session is staffed adequately, and shirts can be ordered.

Please register by clicking on the “Registration” link above and check off the box ‘Training Academy (Winter)’:

The FEE for FC Freeze Academy training sessions is $150.00
(There is a $15.00 discount for families)

This FEE includes:

  1.  8, two hour soccer skills training session (field player and goal keepers)
  2. FC FREEZE training shirt

Checks made out to Bob Durocher and mailed to:

Bob Durocher
113 Judson St.
Canton, NY 13617

The immediate schedule calls for Sunday mornings: 9AM-11AM

The final session will be on SUNDAY March 12th

January 22, 29; February 5, 12, 19, 26; March 5, 12

If you are new to this program, this is a skill based program. Very little game play will take place unless it is in the course of the training activity:

Emphasis is on individual technical development such as:

Ball Mastery (touches on the ball)
Moves to beat opponents

Moves to create time and space
Checking to receive a pass

Receiving and turning with the ball
Mechanics of passing
Mechanics of Shooting
Mechanics of Heading
Speed, agility, balance, foot work, without the ball

Goalkeepers
Catching, throwing, footwork, positioning

The format of the academy will be as follows:
9:00-9:30
full group functional warm up and stretching
9:30-11:00
approximately 3, 25 minute stations of training, this allows time for short bathroom breaks, drinks, and rotation of groups.

Please note: each skill listed above will not be taught every week. Progression of activities will depend on the makeup of each group. Groups will be determined by age, ability, or both, whichever allows for the best learning to take place. Depending on the makeup of the groups, they could change weekly or remain the same.

Instruction will be provided by the Coaching staff of the Women’s and Men’s soccer teams from St. Lawrence University, current and former players from both teams, and the FC Freeze Coaching Staff.

PLEASE NOTE:

**The training academy will also be used as a evaluation process for our FC FREEZE Travel Teams. Sign-up deadline for travel teams is March 12th. Please see registration page
